When to rebuild vs when a tweak is enough

Not every frustration needs a greenfield project. Some need discipline; some need a new foundation.

Tweaks win when…

The structure is sound, the stack is maintainable, and the pain is local — copy, a landing page, image weight, or a clumsy form. Targeted work is cheaper and faster when the bones are good.

Rebuild when…

The CMS fights every change, performance cannot be rescued without gutting plugins, the sitemap no longer matches the business, or brand and interaction need a level the old theme cannot reach.

A practical test

Estimate a year of patches versus a clean rebuild with modern tools and advanced code. If patches keep stacking and the story still feels wrong, rebuild. If one sharp sprint would fix the complaint, tweak.
